P1050540Dick Eastman mentioned the term Trash Genealogist in his newsletter that I read today.

  1. We would say rubbish genealogist here in Aus I think 😉 But sometimes it is easy to make mistakes, especially on the outer branches of our tree, I don’t think anybody has a perfect tree and some trees are quite obviously works in progress, exploring options. If looking at somebody’s work we just need to evaluate it just as we would any other source. There are plenty of “reliable” documents that can lead you astray too either through carelessness of the person completing the paperwork or the person completing the paperwork sets out to deceive.
